AIDS Transformed IU-Kenyan Project

When four Indiana University School of Medicine doctors forged a relationship with a fledgling medical school in western Kenya 20 years ago, helping to combat AIDS was not in the plan.

The American doctors' goals were to help the Kenyans develop the medical school while providing an international health opportunity for IU medical students.

But AIDS changed everything -- including the IU-Kenya Partnership....

IU Grad Awarded John Money Fellowship

Indiana University student Bradley Lane has been awarded the John Money Fellowship to develop his dissertation project, A Visual Politics of the Perverse: Sexual Predation and the ‘Perversion’ of American Visual Culture. Set to be the first dissertation offered in the field of Gender Studies in the nation, this project concerns the visual representation of sexual perversion in the twentieth-century United States, particularly through the figure of the sexual predator.

Tax Prep and Filing Assistance Available to Low- and Moderate-Income Residents

Income-eligible Monroe county residents may take advantage of the services of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance/Tax Counseling for the Elderly program, which provides free in-person tax preparation and electronic filing of federal and Indiana tax returns for low- to moderate-income taxpayers using IRS-trained volunteers.

Every 10 years, under our Constitution, the U.S. Census Bureau attempts to conduct an accurate count of all Americans and households, including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans and our families.

Census statistics guide many vital government decisions. Federal and state governments use census numbers to form congressional district boundaries and to distribute billions of dollars for social services. Non-profit organizations use census statistics to plan services for individuals and their families, influencing the locations for schools, roads and hospitals, for example.
